Half a century of Lorist

Early beginnings of the International Fair of Hunting, Fishing and Sport go back to a distant 1933, when during the International Agricultural Fair, Novi Sad Fair hosted an exhibition of hunting trophies, and in 1937 was organized a Federal hunting exhibition, being held in Novi Sad for the second time.

The first Yugoslav Hunting and Fishing Fair was held in 1964 during which was also organized a Yugoslav Hunting Exhibition, and three years later the Fair was hosted under the name “International Exhibition of Hunting and Fair of Hunting and Fishing”. In that year of 1967 was held the 20th Century International Exhibition of Hunting Trophies, where 2,629 exhibits from 19 countries from Europe, Asia and Africa were on display, and that event was noted as the beginning of regular hosting of the hunting and fishing fairs. Tourism was an integral part of such events since 1967 when an Exhibition “Tourism - A Passport for Peace” was also hosted.

For the first time, the event “International Fair of Hunting, Fishing and Sport” was held a year later, and since 1974, the name was extended to “International Fair of Equipment for Hunting, Fishing, Sport and Tourism”. From the mid-seventies of the previous century the “trade mark” of this event was also a tourist exchange, and from 1975, the word “equipment” was deleted from the title, allowing possibilities for extension of activity volumes and a larger number of participants. The acronym for this group of fairs -  LORIST, was adopted in 1989.

The Fair was accepted as a member of the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, UFI, in 1974, thus aligning LORIST with the most prestigious international fair events. LORIST today represents a unique annual event that primarily gathers sports hunters and fishermen from the entire region, but also sports and tourist professionals, focusing on domestic destinations.

Quality appraisal

Just like in the past years, ratings of product quality hunting and fishing equipment and accessories have been organised once again at the Eco-World Sports Expo and Horticulture fairs.
