At the World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS) World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS), the official competition days began today at the Novi Sad Fair. In the past few days, arrivals, classifications of competitors, technical meetings and inspections of weapons and equipment have been carried out.
In Novi Sad, which is this year's European City of Sport, there are 291 competitors from 51 countries. The competitions are held in the "Master" Hall of the Novi Sad Fair (entrance is free of charge), where competitors gathered in the disciplines from 10 meters (air weapons) and at the Novi Sad Shooting Range (Put Šajkaškoga odreda 1a), which is reserved for disciplines from 25 and 50 meters (small arms).
This World Cup brought together the cream of world para-archery – there are as many as 52 Paralympic medalists in the firing line, including 18 winners from the last Games in Paris. Among the biggest names in Novi Sad are Dragan Ristic (Serbia) - three-time Paralympic champion and current European and world champion. She leads the home team and is the absolute favorite in her rifle disciplines (R5 and R9), Laszlo Schuranji (Serbia) - gold and bronze medalist at the Rio 2016 Games, who always aims for the very top in the disciplines of 50 meters, Veronika Vadovičova (Slovakia) - a living legend of this sport, five-time Paralympic champion and owner of the world record in the R3 discipline, Natasha Hiltrop (Germany) - a two-time gold medalist at the Paralympic Games in Paris, One of the world's most consistent rifle competitors, Isel Ozgan (Turkey) - Silver from Paris in the P2 air pistol discipline.
Serbia is represented at home by a team of 11 selected parashooters. On Saturday, July 25, our national team will compete in the disciplines of air pistol (P1 and P2) in the "Master" Hall, while at the City Shooting Range they shoot the discipline of small caliber rifle lying down (R6).In this sport, there are no multi-day eliminations, so exciting final fights and official ceremonies are held every afternoon (4 - 6 p.m.).

The main organisers of this great sporting event are the Shooting Club 'Novi Sad 1790' and the Shooting Association for Persons with Disabilities of Serbia. The competition is conducted with the support of national and international institutions that ensure the highest sporting standards: international sponsorship - the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) - the event is held under their official auspices and World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS) - the IPC branch in charge of conducting the competition according to official world rules.Domestic support and sponsors are the City of Novi Sad, the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Serbia, the Paralympic Committee of Serbia (POKS).
