AT THE STAND OF THE CITY ADMINISTRATION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION: ABOUT ECOLOGY THROUGH PLAY AND THE EXPERIENCES OF EXPERTS

Creative workshops, a virtual walk through the humid areas of Novi Sad and socializing with the mascot of 'Wetland City' – a frog are just a part of the programme that was prepared at the stand of the City Administration for Environmental Protection of the City of Novi Sad during this year's Ecology Fair.

Special attention was paid to activities for the youngest – kindergarten groups and primary school children. The central theme of the City Administration's performance in the "Master" Hall is the international recognition that Novi Sad received as a city dedicated to the preservation of wetlands "Wetland City".
Visitors to the stand have the opportunity to participate in creative and educational workshops through which children are introduced to the importance of preserving wetlands, biodiversity and nature conservation in an interesting and interactive way, said Vanja Petković, a member of the City Council for Ecology, Energy Efficiency and Environmental Protection.
A special attraction is a virtual walk with the help of VR glasses, which allows visitors to "visit" the protected natural areas of Novi Sad without leaving the fair area. In cooperation with the Association "Stopper to Smile", workshops have been prepared during which children make various objects from recycled materials and thus learn how waste can get a new purpose.
Also, the performance of the City Administration includes an expert part, and a conference and panel discussion entitled 'Novi Sad – City of Wetlands: Water, Nature and Health in a Changing Climate' will be held today, within which representatives of the Provincial Institute for Nature Conservation, PE 'Vojvodinašume', JVP 'Vode Vojvodine' and the Institute of Public Health will talk about the state of the Danube and the challenges faced by managers and experts in the conditions of a changing climate.
– We want to bring ecology closer to citizens in a way that is interesting and accessible, and it is especially important to us that the youngest learn through play and creative activities why nature and wetlands are important for our city – said Vanja Petković.
