ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS IN FOCUS: FROM MICROPLASTICS TO RIVER CONSERVATION TO CLIMATE CHANGE

The impact of plastic and microplastic pollution on agriculture and human health, as well as environmental projects, were in focus on the stage of the Master Hall during the third day of the 57th International Hunting and Fishing Fair and Ecology Fair.

Speaking about the ECO(RE)ACT project, Laslo Galamboš, an associate of the Provincial Institute for Nature Conservation, pointed out that the presence of microplastics in water, soil and animal feed, as well as its impact on agriculture, protected areas and protected species, is being investigated.
"Our goal is to analyze the entire legislative framework of Serbia and Croatia through joint activities, identify shortcomings and give recommendations for reducing pollution," said Laslo Galamboš, adding that during the project, the Center for Microplastics was formed, within which two laboratories operate – one in Osijek and the other in Sremska Kamenica.
The projects of the Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning and Environmental Protection, which are implemented within the EU program of cross-border, transnational and research and innovation cooperation, were presented by Tatjana Đurić, who pointed out that the Secretariat has successfully implemented more than 20 projects in the field of environmental protection over a decade and a half.
Among the projects that are currently being implemented are: "Cross-border cooperation in wastewater treatment along the Tisza River", within the Interreg Hungary-Serbia IPA program, "Cross-border Cooperation Network for the Sustainable Use of Natural Resources" through the Interreg IPA Romania-Serbia program, as well as the project "Adaptation to climate change in AP Vojvodina" implemented under the CLIMAAX program supported by "Horizon Europe".
