Seven titles shortlisted for the "Laza Kostić" Award

The "Laza Kostić" Award is awarded to the exhibitor for the best literary work published between the two International Book Fairs in Novi Sad. This year, 82 titles were submitted for the most prestigious award, 39 for the Best Children's Book, and 19 for the Publishing Venture.

It is obvious that the jury had its hands full, and as many as seven titles were shortlisted.


The jury for the "Laza Kostić" Award, consisting of Mladen Vesković (president), prof. Dr. Isidora Bjelaković and Duško Paunković (members), met on March 3 and shortlisted the novels by Enes Halilović "Bekos" (Laguna), Darko Tuševljaković "Karota" (Laguna) and Milan Tripković "The Immortal Follies of Mrs. Kubat" (Academic Book). The competition for the "Laza Kostić" Award is also a collection of poems by Radomir Uljarević "Intensive Care" (Cosmos), a study by Vladan Bajčeta "Springs of Vladan Desnica - an epistolary biography" (Academic Book), a study by Petar Pijanović "Serbian Culture of the Twentieth Century" (Matica Srpska) and a popular history "The Court of Prince Mihailo Obrenović" (Laguna) by Nebojša Jovanović.


In the competition for the Best Children's Book are three works: "Giants, Scarecrows and Something Else" (Mala Laguna) by Dejan Aleksić, "Dad Says a Gambit" (Laguna) by Stefan Tićmi and "The Great Fantasy Adventure" (The Bee) by Uglješa Šajtinac.


 The Jury reserves the right to propose and award the Special Prize, which will be awarded either to S. Sretenović, D. Fundić, D. Rakić, V. Pavlović, A. Milanović, S. Jaćimović, I. Borozan, "History of the Serbian People in Yugoslavia", Book 1 (Serbian Literary Cooperative) or "Collected Scientific Works" (Cultural Center of Vojvodina "Miloš Crnjanski") by Milorad Pavić.


The "Laza Kostić" Award, which consists of a diploma and a monetary part, will be presented on March 17 at the International Book Fair, as part of the "Days of Laza Kostić" event.


In parallel with the Book Fair, from 17 to 23 March, the jubilee 30th International Art Exhibition "Art Expo" will be held at the Novi Sad Fair. The 20th Education Fair "Putokazi" and the 2nd Gaming Fair "NS Games & Tech Week" (by AXE) will be held from March 19 to 21.


Admission to the March events of the Novi Sad Fair will not be charged.
