The Ecology Fair is a unique opportunity to showcase modern technology, learn about ecological standards, and discover new ideas that can enhance the attitude towards environmental protection. Numerous educations, workshops, and lectures complement it, and useful information about planting, nurturing, and maintaining greenery and flowers will be available. The event will be held from September 24th to 28th. The Hunting and Fishing Fair will also be held during the same period.

The basic common denominators of the exhibitors at the Ecology Fair are environmental protection and returning to nature. The focus of this year's Fair will be raising the awareness of visitors about the primary selection of waste.

Ecology Fair in 2024

International fairs "Lorist" were held at the Novi Sad fair from October 2 to 6. More than 120 exhibitors from Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, and Hungary gathered at the Hunting and Fishing Fair and the Ecology Fair. Among the participants in the programs were those from Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, the EU, Switzerland, France, and Sweden.

Numerous business and political delegations visited the fairs. Among the visitors were the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vulin, and Balint Juhas, President of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina.

The connection between hunting, fishing, and ecology has never been more visible than this year, and the emphasis was on education - primarily for the youngest visitors, of whom there were more than ever.

Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning and Environmental Protection

Presentations on environmental problems in Vojvodina, specifically in protected areas, on climate changes that have the greatest and worst impact, were also held by the Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning and Environmental Protection. Emphasis is placed on cross-border cooperation and the implementation of projects that neither the Provincial Secretariat nor local self-governments and managers of protected areas can finance from their budgets. The importance of closing Chapter 27, which concerns the protection of the environment and ecology, was also highlighted.

In addition to the panel on activities in the field of international cooperation, the Provincial Secretariat for Urbanism and Environmental Protection also held a promotion of its project "For cleaner and greener schools in Vojvodina".

Education of the youngest about the importance of recycling

The City Administration for Environmental Protection introduced a new concept within the Ecology Fair - education of children at several points through interactive workshops. Little ones, and there were about 900 of them of school age and more than 100 of pre-school age, visited the stands moving along the special Green Fair Path.

 

The children first went to the Recycling Island, left the waste they brought, and learned about the importance of recycling. Then they came to the stand of the City Administration, where interactive and creative educational workshops were organized for them in cooperation with ecological associations from the territory of the city. After that, they moved along the Green Fair Trail, within which education on the topic of ecology was organized at various stands, where they received stamps on a leaflet that later confirmed the acquired knowledge.

With the completed flyer, they returned to the City Administration stand where they received small gifts - buckets, badges...

At the stand of the City Administration for Environmental Protection, visitors could get information about ongoing projects, such as subsidies for bicycles, greening, recycling machines, energy efficiency, subsidies for replacing old carpentry, installation of solar panels...

Recycling island

Primary waste selection, environmental protection, and returning to nature were the focus of the Ecology Fair. On this occasion, a special place at the Novi Sad fair was occupied by the Recycling Island, which was designed by the Association "Engineers of Environmental Protection", placed at the Freight Entrance 1.

Citizens are already used to bringing waste, so they did it this time as well. Most were corks, five packages, cans, and paper. Everything was done in cooperation with PUK "Čistoća" and the Association "Cep do ošema". All visitors who brought a certain amount of waste received tickets to the "Lorist" fairs, and 7 thuja trees and about 20 flower seedlings were also distributed.

Recycling doesn't have to be a hassle

At the stand of a well-known long-time friend - the "Cap to Smile" Association, the Ecology Fair was enriched with numerous ecological activities intended for the youngest visitors of the "Lorist" International Fairs. The little ones had the opportunity to walk through the improvised forest and collect waste, which they deposited in the designated bins at the end of the path, and then received prizes.

In addition, they made toys from recycled materials, which remained as a kind of reminder of the Fair and the importance of protecting the environment. They were also shown what the combination of ecology and humanity looks like, how and where the collected corks end up, and how they are sent for recycling, and then they use the collected money to buy aid for children. That recycling is not and should not be a hassle was proven by numerous children, more than 1000 of them, who collected and disposed of waste with great enthusiasm and attention, talked about what they know about recycling, which is why it is important to take care of nature.

The logo of the Novi Sad fair was made from corks in the Auditorium again this year, with a cork to smile. They say they used about 25,000 pieces.

 

UNIQUE FAIR AT ASWA EXPO 2024

As part of the Ecology Fair this year, the First Fair of Communal Equipment and Green Technologies, ASWA EXPO 2024, was organized, where 12 exhibitors from the country and abroad gathered. Based on the agreement on long-term cooperation between the National Cleanliness Association of Serbia, ASWA, and the Novi Sad Fair, it is expected that in the future, this event will also become recognized in the region as a gathering center for the green, communal sector.

The fair was followed by the 11th ASWA 2024 Regional Waste Conference, which gathered panelists from all former Yugoslav republics, Poland, and Hungary, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the City of Novi Sad, and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Serbia. At this conference, experiences were exchanged, and the improvement of municipal waste management was discussed, especially in the largest cities of the region. The goal of the Association is to affirm waste management, for decision-makers to understand the importance of these problems and, through panels and later informal discussions, to try to find a solution for a healthier environment and to encourage others to recycle and invest in the environment.

 

Remedies conference - on circular economy without waste

What innovative solutions and what technology is used to monitor microplastics in the ocean were heard at the Remedies conference, which was organized by the EXIT Foundation in three panels, at the "Master" Congress Center. There was talk about the Remedies project, which is financed by the European Union, through the Horizon program, so among the speakers were representatives of the EU and the Exit Foundation, as one of the partners, and the National Institute in Ljubljana, which is the coordinator of the project. They also discussed financing, networking, as well as a joint action to raise citizens' environmental awareness, all to increase citizens' environmental awareness and make progress in that sense.

SCHOOLS ALSO PARTICIPATED

Schools also participated in the Ecology Fair - the School for Primary and Secondary Education "Milan Petrović" and the Agricultural School with a student dormitory in Futog.

The "Milan Petrović" school organized workshops on making magnets from recycled paper. "Žarko Zrenjanin" Elementary School was their guest. On the second day, they made greeting cards from dried flowers and hosted the elementary schools "Kosta Trifković" and "Dositej Obradović". They also made motor games with plastic cups and an ecological mini football. About 100 children participated, and the participants were also visitors to the Fair.

The agricultural school sold products from its economy, but also created a workshop for children where they were introduced to veterinary medicine and their products.

There were also sales at other stands at the Ecology Fair, a small but selected selection of different types of natural products was offered - skin preparations, teas, syrups, salves, tinctures, seedlings, and some jars of winter herbs at affordable prices.

From evaluation to recognition - for pride and joy

The commissions for evaluating the quality of the exhibits at the Hunting and Fishing Fair and the Ecology Fair worked to meet them during the first two days of the events. Awards were presented to the best at a ceremony in the "Master" Congress Center.

The grand champion cup of the Novi Sad fair in the evaluation of hunting and fishing equipment was won by Grof MBM in Petrovac na Mlava, for the top quality and design of the evaluated weapons. Count MBM is also leaving with a Diploma with special recognition for 30 years of excellent cooperation and presentation at the Novi Sad Fair. In the same commodity group, the Cup of the Novi Sad fair went to JP "Vojvodinašume" in Petrovaradin. Greensport from Belgrade was awarded the same award.

At the Ecology Fair, Moba botanical skincare, Latković, won the Grand Champion's Cup, as decided by the committee, for the overall top quality of natural cosmetic products. Kedro's story in Belgrade was awarded the silver championship cup of the Novi Sad fair. In this commodity group, there are two Cups of the Novi Sad Fair. One will decorate the showcases of the company Megika in Nova Pazova, the other Hurem Melema in Novi Pazar.

Numerous charters and medals were awarded for excellent results: Large Gold, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

JUMPING COMPETITIONS

During the three days of the event, competitions in show jumping were also held - the final round of the Vojvodina show jumping league and the Open Championship of Vojvodina in show jumping. Visitors could see 103 starts.

The organizer of the Vojvodina Show Jumping League and the Open Championship of Vojvodina in show jumping was the Equestrian Association of Vojvodina, and the technical organizer was the Equestrian Center "Novosadski sajam".

Cooked by media representatives and hunters

Traditionally, hunters and journalists had the opportunity to show their culinary skills at the "Lorist" International Fairs. 20 media teams competed for the Press Trophy of the Novi Sad Fair in the preparation of a fish kettle. A committee made up of excellent connoisseurs of fish dishes awarded the best.

Before the Press Trophy, 10 teams of hunters competed in the cooking of hunting stew at the same place.

The Novi Sad Fair organized the Raffle Game in cooperation with the exhibitors.

Top Gun, Požarevac donated an air rifle - model WF600P, cal.4.5mm, Capriolo, Bačka Topola bicycle "Fet Boy" with fat tires, Balkan fireworks, Šabac 10 fireworks, and Hornetshop online store, Petrovaradin two pairs of pants. Zastava Orzej, Kragujevac, donated a trophy knife, chromed and engraved, on a wooden stand, and KS Safety shoes, Novi Sad, donated two pairs of shoes. Donors included Sniper, Belgrade, who donated hunting pants and a vest as well as a shirt and cap, Count MBM, Požarevac, prepared leg warmers, a shirt, a cap for hunters, glasses for shooters, Balkan Hunter, Belgrade, a Deerhunter jacket and Hunters037, Čitluk Kruševac, pants, a shirt, a T-shirt and a winter cap - all for hunters, Adventure Park, Čajetina - four sets of tickets for families. Artena Port, Novi Beograd donated a Victorinox mini pocket knife Signature Lite Onyx Black and a Victorinox kitchen grater (three pieces). In 2025, the Novi Sad Fair will continue the practice of organizing Raffle Games for visitors with purchased tickets.
