The quality and the number of descendants are the most significant

The fact that domestic sheep breeders have what to offer is also visible at this Fair, since the best quality cattle of home breeding are in the stables.

However, a dilemma will remain which ram is the largest, because there was no official measuring, and several sheep breeders claim that their ram deserves this title. All rams are of Wurttemberg breed and weigh about 200 kilograms – a kilo more or less.

“My seven-year-old Paja is for the first time at the Fair, because he was occupied in the past years by females who did not let him come,” says Zivorad Zivkovic from Obrenovac, whose cattle, a younger ram named Bole, took the title of the champion for this year. “Paya is, however, my pride, because he is older, has many descendants and is active every year.”

The owner of the four-year-old ram named Sajamski, Bojan Marinkovic from the company “Kusago doo” near Sremska Mitrovica, says that the most important characteristics of a ram are the quality and the number of offspring, and that Sajamski, who was the last year's absolute champion, has a lot to be proud of.

Mr Marinkovic, who has already sold all of his exposed cattle at the Fair, which he returns home from this year with two silver cups, indicates that sheep breeding pays off, if it is done seriously.

In the fierce competition of the heaviest rams, there was also a ram called Micha IV, belonging to Mr Goran Colic from Bogatic, who was awarded by the Cup of Novi Sad Fair.
