The 50th Annual International Tourism Fair and the 8th International Fair of Horse breeding and Equestrian Equipment were formally open yesterday by Vice President and Provincial Secretary for Economy and Tourism Ivan Dokovic.
The Government of Vojvodina and the Provincial Secretariat for Economy and Tourism can see the incredible potential for the tourism industry so much so that the issue was addressed in depth, as one of the three pillars of sustainability, in the address given by the President of the Provincial Government of Vojvodina.
The central theme of the 2017 Tourism Fair is the diversity of the Danube region.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Tourism Fair, Novi Sad Fair CEO Slobodan Cvetkovic M.Sc. said they are proud to be celebrating such an important jubilee as it’s a testament to the impact the oldest expo company in the country has on its economic growth. “Growing attendance figures speak to the event’s immense popularity so much so that the registration numbers for 2017 Tourism Fair far exceed those of the previous year”, said Cvetkovic.
“The idea was to extend the essential concept of this expo by introducing a new edition of the Tourism Fair, the Danube Region event”, Cvetkovic concluded. Aimed at exploiting socio--economic development opportunities for the Danube-Serbia Region, the initiative focuses on promoting the Danube Region and encouraging foreign tourists to visit and discover the real beauty of our country, which, in my humble opinion, presents the vast promise of untapped potential. After speaking about growth opportunities in the tourism industry, Cvetkovic went on to say that this year’s Partner Country is Montenegro. Montenegrin ambassador to Serbia Branislav Micunovic commended Novi Sad Fair representatives on their efforts to put on a great show like this, saying “it takes a concerted team effort to handle all of the details.”
“To be celebrating 95 years of doing business and 50 years of hosting the Fair of Tourism speaks volumes about their significance. I’d like to express my deepest appreciation to all of you for accepting us, for the third consecutive year, as the Partner Country of this prominent show. I hope we may continue to strengthen our partnership and cooperation for years to come. Please extend a very special thank you to Novi Sad, Novi Sad Fair, Vojvodina and Serbia for their kind support.”
