The International Agricultural Fair is one of the most important economic manifestations in Serbia, stressed the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Dr. Aleksandar Martinović while visiting the exhibitor stand accompanied by the Malawi delegation.

Serbia has traditionally friendly relations with African countries and this visit by the representatives of the Republic of Malawi and the Gabonese Republic is proof of those relations. - said Dr. Martinović. - These two countries are a potential market for our agricultural production because they need agricultural mechanization, various agricultural produce, and our seed products and they are interested in the knowledge our Faculty of Agriculture and renowned institutes can provide. This manifestation is an important event, which gathers guests from different countries to witness a great display of Serbian agriculture. Now, our friends from two African countries can confirm that. 

According to Martinović, 47% of the entire domestic production is placed on the EU market, which is very demanding and has a population of around 500 million. That proves how capable our production is in terms of fulfilling strict criteria of food quality and food safety. 

This is key information when negotiating with representatives of countries that have expressed interest in importing our food. Malawi and Gabon are especially interested in the import of our organic produce and are also eager to gain knowledge on the processes of organic production itself. - added Martinović. -

The Ministry of Agriculture and the Government of Serbia will continue to give support to this branch of agriculture because it is clearly the form of food which will have an increased demand on both domestic and foreign markets.
