The International Agricultural Fair is known for many things – it is the biggest fair manifestation in our country and the biggest agricultural manifestation in the region, every year a vast number of visitors and experts get to see all the exhibits, and the awarded accolades are a guaranteed entry to the markets...

However, there is something else the Fair stands out amongst other such events – it is visited by whole families who spend hours and hours strolling around the open area of the Fair to see something new and interesting the Fair has to offer them.

This is the reason why the Fair has a tradition of dedicating one day of the manifestation to Family Day, when a whole family with children under the age of 14, no matter how many there are, can visit the Fair with one single ticket. This year, the Family Day was yesterday, and, as in previous years, the decision to continue the Family Day tradition has proved a good one for the Novi Sad Fair. The crowded streets of the Fair were filled with children’s laughter, happiness, joy and curiosity...

How else can it be, when a stroll down the Fair streets and pavilions is a unique opportunity to see the newest agricultural machinery, some of which are gigantic and are a feast for the eyes of children and parents. With that, the Agricultural Fair is a chance to see the best domestic head of cattle, and children, especially those who don’t spend much time in rural areas, are hard to separate from the pavilions with horses, goats, cows, and sheep. The experience gets even better if we add the fact that some of the stables have newborn lambs, baby goats, foals, and calves, and the fact that they can enjoy the elegance of showjumping horses at the Manege, it is no wonder that the Fair streets were packed.

This is only a part of what the Fair has to offer families visiting, amongst other things, while taking their rounds through the Fair, families and other visitors can stop and rest at various delicacy stands where the exhibitors have prepared lots of delicious foods and beverages to satisfy everyone’s taste buds. Both sweet and salty foods, traditional smoked meat and somewhat less traditional craft beer, some new products and some old ones have found their way to consumers.

This year, the Fair has taken a step further when talking about gastronomic pleasures and has prepared a cooking event on which the visitors got to taste meals that have been prepared by non-other than the Ambassadors of EU countries since the European Union is the Partner of of the International Agricultural Fair. Arancini, pirogues, the Viennese schnitzel, the Prague ham... That’s an out-of-the-box event if there ever was one.
