PANEL DISCUSSION ON THE NEW LAW ON WEAPONS: Good and less good solutions

Share

The process of adopting the new Law on Weapons and Ammunition lasted about ten months, and the initial, extremely restrictive version was softened by 80 percent, said the president of the National Arms Association of Serbia (NAOS), Slobodan Spasic.

According to him, simplified possibilities for the acquisition of weapons, relaxed conditions for the possession of sporting and hunting weapons and extended deadlines for inheriting weapons are some of the good solutions. Less good solutions, according to Spasic, are those that unnecessarily limit the procurement of ammunition for weapons for personal safety and the possession of collectible ammunition.
The new Law on Weapons and Ammunition will come into force on April 18, 2027, and the harmonization of bylaws and regulations is imminent, among other things, on technical conditions for the possession of weapons, shooting ranges and shooting ranges.
