Provincial Institute for Nature Conservation: HUNTERS AS NATURAL ALLIES

Local hunting associations are an important ally to professional institutions in nature conservation, which has been confirmed by a number of examples in previous years, it was assessed at the conference "Nature Conservation and Hunting: Challenges, Harmonization and Cooperation", organized by the Provincial Institute for Nature Conservation at the 57th International Hunting and Fishing Fair.

Ornithologist at the Institute, Nikola Stojnić, among other things, reminded of the cooperation with hunters from Novi Bečej in the protection of the Special Nature Reserve (SRP) "Slano kopovo", which, as unique in Serbia, was created by the purchase of private land.
LD "Perjanica" from Mokrin, through the exchange of experiences with Hungarian colleagues, contributed to the protection of the Great Bustard, and hunters, according to Stojnić, played an important role in the protection of habitats near Srpski Krstur, Susek, Banatski Aranđelovo, as well as in the Special Nature Reserve "Deliblatska peščara" - the site of Labudovo okno.
- Cooperation with hunters is also reflected in the care of endangered species and reporting illegalities - explains Stojnić and points out a successful example of saving the imperial eagle.
