The "Sava Šumanović" Award, awarded for the 28th time, for achievements in fine arts, was presented to Nemanja Nikolić, a multimedia artist from Belgrade, at the jubilee 30th international exhibition "Art Expo". The jury that decided on this year's award was composed of: Svetlana Mladenov, art historian and curator, Nela Tonković, art historian and curator, and Vesna Latinović, gallerist. The decision was made at a meeting held on March 4 at the Bel Art Gallery in Novi Sad. From his early works, created during his studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, Nikolić has consistently developed an expression based on precisely constructed, often narratively intoned scenes in which elements of intimacy, collective experience and the history of visual representations are intertwined. Starting from drawing as a fundamental discipline, the artist has built a recognizable handwriting in which figuration is not exhausted in descriptiveness, but becomes a means of analyzing complex social and institutional relations.
