Wider selection for the "Laza Kostić" Award announced: More than 30 titles in competition

The jury for the "Laza Kostić" Award has published a wider selection of books that compete for one of the most important domestic literary awards that bears the name of the celebrated poet. The committee for the award is composed of Mladen Vesković, Duško Paunković and Isidora Bjelaković.

The jury for the "Laza Kostić" Award has published a wider selection of books that compete for one of the most important domestic literary awards that bears the name of the celebrated poet. The committee for the award is composed of Mladen Vesković, Duško Paunković and Isidora Bjelaković.

In the wider selection, in the category of novels, 11 titles were included, including: Dorćolski Requiem by Dejan Stojiljković, Bekos by Enes Halilović, Carrot by Darko Tuševljaković, Lusi by Bojan Savić Ostojić, as well as Immortal Follies of Mrs. Kubat by Milan Tripković.

Also in competition are the novels The Ballad of the Killer and the Murderer and the Murderer by Dalibor Pejić, Flight Is Near Dubravka Rebić, The Royal Pavilion by Vladimir Vučković, The Alchemist from Rednek by Željko Marković, The Belgrade Loser by Branislav Bjelica and The Small Notebook by Milan Ristović.

Three collections of poems are also competing for the award – Intensive Care by Radomir Uljarević, Once Upon a Time by Olivera Nedeljković and It Was Better Already by Aleksandar Dobrijević.

In the field of studies, titles dealing with history, literature and culture have been singled out, including: Serbian Culture of the Twentieth Century by Petar Pijanović and Metamorphoses by Milorad Pavić by Jelena Marićević Balać, as well as Springs by Vladan Desnica - an epistolary biography by Vladan Bajčeta. There are also How Horror Was Tempered, by Marijana Jelisavčević Karanović and The Ruler from the Shadow, General Petar Živković, by Milan Bogojević.

In the category of popular history in the competition are: Once Upon a Time in Serbia by Momčilo Petrović and The Palace of Prince Mihailo Obrenović by Nebojša Jovanović.

The wider selection also includes six titles for the youngest readers, including Giants, Scarecrows and Something Else by Dejan Aleksić, The Great Fantasy Adventure by Uglješa Šajtinac, Packing the Rabbits by Elizabeth Gergiev, Dad Says a Gambit, by Stefan Tićmi, One Hundred Percent Other People's Business, Olivera Zulović and Babe, Grandpa and Other Creatures by Duško Domanović.

In the category of publishing endeavors, the following were singled out: History of the Serbian People in Yugoslavia, Book 1, Rg veda by Momir Nikić and Collected Scientific Works by Milorad Pavić.

The "Laza Kostić" Award is traditionally awarded for outstanding achievements in contemporary literary production, and the decision on the shortlist and the winner will be announced later. 

Within the Book Fair, at the same time, the 30th International Art Exhibition "Art Expo" will be organized, while the 20th jubilee International Education Fair "Putokazi" and the 2nd International Art Expo. "Game & Tech Week (by AXE)" will take place from March 19 to 21.
