Feathered animals can be seen again, and by God, heard, at the 93rd International Agricultural Fair at Hall 24, on the way to Manjež, where visitors are greeted by about 20 breeds of poultry. Two exhibitors, Nikola Elez from Rastina and Goran Komnenić from Sombor, have been receiving compliments for days that they have the most visited stand. And how could it not be when there are all sorts of chickens, ducklings, turkeys everywhere.

– I exhibited two breeds, the Sombor capark and the Banat golusian – says Elez, who is exhibiting for the first time this year at the International Agricultural Fair. – People are interested, they buy a lot. Chickens cost from 300 dinars, and adults from 30 to 100 euros. Eggs are 150 and 200 dinars each, depending on the breed.
It is not only poultry that is an attraction for young and old, it is also fish, specifically sturgeon. Stationed in Hall 2, the Innovative Fisheries Cluster "Icarus Aquaponics" this year for the third time presents its form of unconventional livestock farming through the system of fish farms and aquaponics.
– With aquaponics, the most important thing is that the same water circulates non-stop, it is used to grow fish, but also fruits and vegetables – explains Marko Kalmar from "Icarus aquaponics". – This system is good because it allows you to always have fresh fruits and vegetables at home, and it is also suitable for large consumers who would like to start this kind of business.
While you can keep aquaponics on your terrace, bee hives are not. Also in Hall 2 there are several beekeepers who have exhibited their healthy products.
– We have honey of different tastes, from rapeseed, linden, acacia, meadow and forest honey, but also mixes for the treatment of certain health problems, raising immunity, general health and energy – says Jelena Radaković from the Jokić Farm from Šabac. – The most sought after is cream-honey, which is a substitute for nutella. There are no additives, artificial colors, taste stimulants in it. We make it from acacia, organic cocoa and roasted hazelnuts. This year, rapeseed honey is also widely bought. It is interesting to visitors because it is white in color, it looks like fat. Our bees live on Cer and Fruška Gora, in the Vojvodina plain and forests around the Sava.
