Presentation of the program "For cleaner and greener schools in Vojvodina"

The “For Cleaner and Greener Schools in Vojvodina” program was presented. A new call opens Sept 29, with over 650 institutions already involved.

A new public invitation, the 17th in a row, will be sent to educational institutions in Vojvodina on Monday, September 29, it was announced at the presentation of the program "For cleaner and greener schools in Vojvodina", in Hall "Master".

As pointed out, it is a unique program, which was launched in 2009 by the Provincial Secretariat for Urbanism and Environmental Protection, the Provincial Secretariat for Education, Regulations, Administration and National Minorities - National Communities and the Vojvodina Highlanders' Movement. The focus is on students and teachers who introduce them to topics related to environmental protection, sustainable development and to the community, proposing and implementing activities that influence the development and awakening of environmental awareness in their environments. Prizes for the most creative preschoolers and students are intangible, but important and instructive - visits and trips to protected natural resources of Vojvodina, NP Fruška gora, Sremske Karlovce and Ecological Center "Radlovački", and teachers go to seminars. The City Administration for Environmental Protection in Novi Sad is providing the school yard for the award-winning institution.

The program "For cleaner and greener schools in Vojvodina" has grown over the years, by joining and strengthening the partner network that included public and public utility companies, city administrations, and local self-governments. An important step was taken last year, when an agreement was signed with all 45 municipalities in Vojvodina, and that partnership is a strong link in the implementation of the program. So far, more than 650 educational institutions have participated in this program, more precisely about 15,000 children, 15 seminars for teachers have been held, and the next seminar has been announced for October.

It was also indicated that a public call for applications for the 2025/2026 school year will be announced next week. year, and the deadline for submitting applications is December 31. After that, schools should send activity reports (photos and a presentation) by May 1 of the following year, which is enough time for preschoolers, as well as primary and secondary school students, to show what they are doing in the field of the environment, what ideas they want to implement, how to preserve their environment, think about a cleaner and more beautiful planet...
- We will continue to support all participants in the program - said the undersecretary of the Provincial Secretariat for Urbanism and Environmental Protection Brankica Tabak, indicating that the secretariat provides funds, and that last year all participating schools were awarded, and that more children went on trips.

Students learn through practice

- Our school participated in the program last year and the students were rewarded with a trip to Sremske Karlovce - said Magdalena Gak, a teacher of practical classes at the Secondary Agricultural School in Zrenjanin. - Our students learn through practice, by processing plants they make products with which we promote the school at various events and have a developed awareness of the importance of protecting the environment.
