Žeravica Museum's Time Machine at the Agricultural Fair: Back to the Roots – From Hand to Machine

In the wake of the state-of-the-art developments that will be presented in Hall 23 at the 93rd International Agricultural Fair, among drones, autonomous machines and digital solutions, one setting is sure to attract attention in a different way. In order to preserve the national technical culture, the Žeravica Museum will present to visitors a part of one of the most important collections in this part of Europe.

The concept of the exhibition is "From the field to the cake" and represents a bridge that connects the glorious past of Vojvodina's agrarians, with the contemporary moment, with an experience that connects generations.
A special segment of the exhibition is dedicated to the development of propulsion systems, from steam engines, which required time, power and a team of people, to the first internal combustion engines, which made mechanization available to a wider range of manufacturers. The steam engine is a symbol of the Industrial Revolution that changed the world. The sound of a stationary engine will take those present back to the time when the rhythm of work first came out of human hands and passed into mechanics, and by turning the hand wrench, visitors will rediscover the forgotten movements, which once meant life.

The central part of the exhibition "From Field to Cake" is the story of corn that has fed entire generations. Through a carefully designed chronology, the entire production process is shown, from sowing to processing. A special place is occupied by the traditional joint sowing of corn and beans, a wise practice of the ancestors that carried both science and security. As corn draws strength from the ground, beans replenish it, a reminder of the natural balance that preceded modern fertilizers. This joint sowing segment also provided security to the peasant from hunger, because if the year was dry and the corn failed, the beans, as a more resistant plant, would still bear fruit.
The interactive part of the exhibition will allow visitors to feel the weight of this work. Sitting on the "rico", turning the hand crowns or observing the operation of machines powered by stationary engines, will clearly create a picture of the transition of agriculture from the "artisanal" to the "industrial" stage.

The story of the Žeravica family further deepens this picture. Their roots, which date back to 1936 and the first locksmith workshops, testify to the combination of crafts and agriculture, from which machines were created that were not a luxury, but a necessity, as a tool that made life easier and increased yields.
In the part of the exhibition dedicated to tractors, the exhibition will present two engineering answers to the centuries-old question of how to make a heavy machine pull a plough without sinking into the soft soil of Vojvodina. Iron wheels with "spurs" represented raw strength and perseverance, while tracked riders brought a different philosophy based on weight distribution and "floating" on the ground. From the iron wheel that fought with mud, to the caterpillar that "swam" over it, the exhibits of the Žeravica Museum are monuments to human ingenuity and perseverance, but also a reminder that the goal has always been the same: to conquer nature, but not to destroy it.

In addition to the main exhibition, the museum also offers creative workshops that blur the line between the audience and the exhibition. In this way, children and adults will have the opportunity to assemble models of tractors, and take photos of their works. The most creative photos will be published on the social media profiles of the Žeravica Museum, with prizes from the museum souvenir shop, for the best works. Also, the Fair Art Colony will be organized, and the task will be to draw some of the presented exhibits and participate in the exhibition of works. During the fair, visitors will vote for the works in Hall 23 and on social media. In this way, history does not remain enclosed in showcases, but continues to live on through new generations.
At a time when technology is advancing unstoppably, the message of this setting is clear, and that is that without understanding the roots, there is no real development. In this regard, the exhibition is a reminder of the foundation that even the most advanced technology cannot replace, and that is the relationship between man, land and fruit. In a hall filled with innovation, this exhibition will act as a living time machine, in which metal gets a soul and history gets a voice.
